Participation to the ICDIM conference in France (July 2016)

On the 10-15 July 2016, the ASCIMAT partner, Institute of Light and Matter at University of Lyon 1 (France), hosted the 19th edition of the International Conference on Defects in Insulating Materials (ICDIM 2016). International conferences (ICDIM) take place every four years and are alternated with Europe-specific conferences (EURODIM). The series is a broad international forum on the science and technology of defect-related phenomena in crystalline and amorphous wide band-gap materials.

The ICDIM 2016 brought together scientists from both academic institutions and industry. The event aimed at a free exchange of new results and ideas for advancing the development in the field of defect-related phenomena in wide band-gap materials. The scientific areas covered by the conference include, but are not limited to:
  • Fundamental physical phenomena
  • Point and extended defects in wide band-gap systems: oxides, fluorides, nitrides, alkali- and silver-halides, perovskites, minerals, ceramics, nano-structures, organic molecular crystals, glasses, high-k and low-k materials, photonic crystals
  • Thin films and low-dimensional systems
  • Colloids, nano-crystals, and aggregates
  • Defects modeling and computational methods
  • Luminescence of excitons, impurities, and defects
  • Scintillation, energy transfer and storage, carrier trapping phenomena
  • Etc.

The ASCIMAT coordinator, Prof. Martin Nikl, and Prof. Anna Vedda from UNIMIB were invited to be part of the international committee while the chairman of the ICDIM conference was our ASCIMAT partner  Prof. Christophe Dujardin from ILM. The representatives from the project also contributed to the conference by making oral presentations, submitting scientific papers and co-author several posters.
